Position Summary
The Inventory Control Specialist plays a key role in maintaining accurate inventory levels of high-performance plastic materials and products within a fast-paced distribution environment. This position ensures all inventory transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled, supporting smooth warehouse operations, on-time order fulfillment, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate inventory records of performance plastic sheet, rod, tube, and film products in ERP systems
  • Perform routine cycle counts and physical inventories to identify discrepancies and reconcile variances
  • Investigate root causes of inventory errors and collaborate with warehouse, shipping, and purchasing teams to correct issues
  • Monitor inbound and outbound material flow to ensure proper documentation and handling procedures are followed
  • Analyze inventory trends and usage patterns to support forecasting and stock level optimization
  • Assist in developing and refining inventory control processes and SOPs to support accuracy and efficiency
  • Collaborate with customer service and sales teams to resolve order fulfillment issues related to stock availability
  • Ensure compliance with internal inventory control standards and industry best practices
  • Support warehouse staff during high-volume periods and participate in special projects as needed
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or coursework in supply chain or logistics preferred
  • 2+ years of inventory control or warehouse experience, preferably in a distribution or plastics-related environment
  • Forklift certification is required
  • Working knowledge of ERP or WMS systems (e.g., SYSPRO, Prophet 21, SAP, Oracle, etc.)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and basic data analysis
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Familiarity with performance plastics and handling requirements is a plus
  • Ability to lift and move materials up to [e.g., 50 lbs] and operate material handling equipment as needed
Work Environment
  • Warehouse and distribution center environment with exposure to material storage, cutting equipment, and forklifts
  • May require standing, lifting, and walking for extended periods
  • Occasional overtime or weekend work during inventory counts or peak seasons
