Job summary

West Tennessee Healthcare in Jackson, Tennessee is seeking an Inventory Control Specialist to maintain accurate Information Technology inventory levels and ensure that optimal stock is present and ready for use.

You will develop procedures, identify and optimize inventory items, coordinate with sales, shipping and purchasing, perform regular counts and audits, train staff in cycle counting, and provide timely reports and chargebacks to departments.

Qualifications

  • Language and logical skills in the technical field of computer software and equipment.
  • 2-4 years of college or equivalent experience in materials management/inventory control; 4 years in related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements procedures for ensuring that adequate inventory levels are present.
  • Identifies and optimizes common inventory items.
  • Disposes of or sells obsolete items in the inventory.
  • Works with sales, shipping and purchasing teams.
  • Ensures that inventory counts are completed regularly and promptly.
  • Audits the entire inventory and provides reports to management.
  • Trains other employees in cycle counting and inventory control.
  • Files claims with manufacturers or sellers when defective goods are found.
  • Instructs others on returns of defective goods.
  • Keeps returned goods area tidy and clean.
  • Keeps up with changing technologies to remain valuable for the department.
  • Provides accurate charge backs to departments for supplies.
  • Maintains de-commissioned equipment inventory until disposal to recycling.

Job Description Summary:

The inventory control specialist has the primary responsibility of maintaining the Information Technology accurate inventory levels; the candidate also ensures that optimal inventory is present and ready for use.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Develops and implements procedures for ensuring that adequate inventory levels are present.
  • Identifies and optimizes common inventory items.
  • Comes up with ways to dispose of or sell obsolete items in the inventory.
  • Works with other teams including sales, shipping and purchasing.
  • Ensures that inventory counts are completed regularly and in a timely manner.
  • Audits the Information Service's entire inventory on a regular basis and provides reports to management.
  • Trains other employees in cycle counting and inventory control.
  • Files claims with manufacturers or sellers when defective goods are found in the inventory.
  • Instructs others on how and where to return defective goods.
  • Keeps a particular area for returned goods tidy and clean.
  • Keeps up with changing technologies such as computer software in order to remain valuable for the department.
  • Follows all existing company policies and procedures.
  • Provides accurate and timely charge back to departments for any and all supplies.
  • Maintains de-commissioned equipment inventory till disposal to a recycling company.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
  • Language and logical skills in the technical field of computer software and equipment in addition to secretarial skills as normally acquired through high school graduation or the equivalent thereof. 2 - 4 years of college or equivalent experience as required though 4 years in a related materials management inventory control field preferred
LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION:
  • Valid DL License
EXPERIENCE:
  • Knowledge of inventory control as acquired though 2-4 years in materials management preferred
