Overview

Position Overview

The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for coordinating and controlling all activities required to maintain an accurate inventory of raw materials and components. This includes the timely and accurate posting of all ERP transactions and coordination with multiple departments to ensure that materials are physically received, issued to production, and systematically transferred as needed.

The role involves thorough investigation and resolution of inventory discrepancies, along with the implementation of corrective and preventive measures to eliminate root causes and maintain data integrity. The Specialist will adhere to Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure all materials meet quality standards and production timelines.

Responsibilities

Specific Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing the cycle count program by performing cycle counts, reconciling discrepancies, preparing reports, and conducting root cause analyses.
  • Investigate inventory procedure inconsistencies and escalate findings to the appropriate personnel for resolution.
  • Oversee the proper disposal of aged, obsolete, and rejected products in compliance with company policy and industry standards.
  • Process inventory adjustment transactions as necessary and recommend improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to all company policies, procedures, and cGMP requirements.
  • Provide for ongoing training and development of associates.
  • Communicate inventory results and findings to the Inventory Control Manager in a timely manner.
  • Assist in preparing reports and supporting documentation for management review.
  • Provide support during annual physical inventory audits and other related activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support department and organizational goals.

General Responsibilities

  • Requires regular attendance to perform essential elements as contained herein between the assigned start and end times for work.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Licenses:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (college degree a plus)
  • 4 years of relevant experience required
  • Prior successes with investigating, analyzing and solving discrepancies in a warehouse/manufacturing environment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency in Word and Excel
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
  • Ability to train and instruct others in corrective actions, error prevention, and best inventory practices
  • Certified or experienced forklift operator, with demonstrated proficiency using reach lift trucks, sit‑down forklifts, and electric pallet jacks.
  • Must be capable of performing physical activities including sitting, standing, grasping, lifting, and keyboarding for extended periods.
  • Proven record of reliability and strong attendance, demonstrating responsibility and commitment to work schedules.
  • Willingly work overtime as needed, including weekends, to meet operational demands.
