Job summary

PCH Princeton Community Hospital is seeking an experienced Materials Management professional to optimize central inventory for patient care supplies and equipment. You will collaborate with Procurement to develop efficient acquisition systems, maintain accurate perpetual inventory, and apply par levels to balance service with cost control.

Responsibilities include detailed reporting, budget-aligned cost controls, and cross-functional support hospital-wide.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Supply Chain or related field with 6 months of supply chain experience, or HS diploma with 2 years experience.
  • Bilingual/English not required; but driver’s license required.
  • Four years of supply chain experience in a healthcare setting.

  • Develops and manages efficient acquisition systems with Procurement.
  • Develops and maintains perpetual inventory counts and locator systems.
  • Manages reorder systems with par levels and min/max parameters.
  • Develops cost and inventory reduction programs and provides data to measure progress.
  • Develops and analyzes reports (ABC analysis, usage history) to maximize inventory efficiency.
  • Conducts year-end physical inventory and other periodic counts.
  • Maintains competencies and provides backup in absence of others.

Develops, implements, and maintains supply acquisition, storage, and inventory systems for the central inventory of supplies and equipment necessary to support patient care.

Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain or related field of study AND six (6) months of Supply Chain experience OR High School Diploma or equivalent AND two (2) years of Supply Chain experience
  • Valid Driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
  • Certified Materials and Resource Professional (CMRP).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field.
Experience
  • Four years of Supply Chain experience in a healthcare environment.
CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • In conjunction with Procurement, develops and manages efficient acquisition systems for items managed by Materials Handling (MH).
  • Develops and maintains systems which assure the accuracy of perpetual inventory counts and inventory locator systems to facilitate easy retrieval for all items.
  • Develops and maintains reorder management systems (to include the application of par levels and min/max parameters) to assure a high level of customer service while minimizing inventory levels.
  • Develops materials cost and inventory reduction programs and provides data to measure progress towards cost reduction targets.
  • Develops and analyzes reports (i.e., ABC analysis, usage history, etc.) to target efforts to maximize inventory efficiencies
  • Conducts the year-end physical inventory and other periodic inventory counts as necessary.
  • Develops and maintains performance standards for materials systems.
  • Provides inventory management expertise hospital-wide.
  • Assures that the daily operational needs for supplies and equipment are met.
  • Ascertains daily order requirements through Lawson recommendations, physical counts, and personal observation.
  • Has budgetary signature authority and places orders for needed items on a daily basis.
  • Serves as a member of the buying team for items managed by MH to coordinate with Procurement, vendors, and hospital to make purchasing decisions for special situations (product back orders, urgent/emergent needs, unusual patient requirements, etc.
  • Coordinates special deliveries from vendors or borrowing from other hospitals for items which are in short supply for any reason (back orders, usage spikes, unique patient specific needs, etc.).
  • Maintains competencies and serves as back up in the absence of other Materials Management Inventory Control Analysts.
  • Assists the director in developing and monitoring budget cost centers as assigned by the director.
  • Maintains proficiency in the use of Lawson/Crystal and coordinates with the Application System Analyst to assure that the Lawson database is maintained in a current and accurate manner.
  • Maintains necessary accounting knowledge and coordinates with Finance to assure that all necessary financial matters handled appropriately (perpetual inventory reconciliation, Lawson/GL interface, manual billings, etc.
  • Provides reports through Lawson, Crystal or electronic spreadsheets as requested.
  • Assists in training other personnel (Materials Handling Attendants, Inventory Control Analysts, etc.) with respect to inventory management and other related Lawson functions.
  • Serves on Value Analysis and other hospital committees as assigned.

  • Possesses excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment. Maintains a high degree of customer service commitment with the ability to communicate data in front of diverse groups.
  • Knowledge of inventory control methods, purchasing. contracting, receiving of medical supplies, services, and hospital operations.
