Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals is seeking a Materials Management Inventory Analyst to develop and manage central inventory systems supporting patient care. You will collaborate with Procurement, maintain perpetual counts, and optimize reorder levels while ensuring timely availability of supplies.

The role involves complex inventory analytics, reporting, and training across the hospital. Requires strong experience in healthcare supply chains and proficiency with Lawson/Crystal systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Supply Chain or related field with relevant experience, or alternative education with years of experience.
  • CMRP credential is preferred; additional business degree is advantageous.
  • Four years healthcare supply chain experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Develops efficient acquisition systems with Procurement for MH items.
  • Maintains perpetual inventory counts and locator systems.
  • Manages reorder levels and par/min-max parameters for service levels.
  • Creates cost reduction programs and measures progress.
  • Generates reports (ABC analysis, usage history) to optimize inventory.
  • Performs year-end physical inventories and other counts.
  • Sets performance standards for materials systems.
  • Provides hospital-wide inventory management expertise.
  • Counts and distributes supplies and linens accurately.
  • Determines daily orders via Lawson, counts, and observation.
  • Has budgetary signature authority for daily orders.
  • Participates in buying decisions for urgent or back-ordered items.
  • Coordinates special deliveries or inter-hospital transfers of scarce items.
  • Acts as backup for Materials Handling Analysts and training.
  • Assists director in budget and cost-center monitoring.
  • Maintains Lawson/Crystal proficiency and related interfaces.
  • Coordinates with Finance on reconciliations and billing.
  • Generates Lawson/Crystal reports as requested.
  • Trains staff on inventory management and Lawson functions.
  • Works on Value Analysis and hospital committees.

In conjunction with Procurement, develops and manages efficient acquisition systems for items managed by Materials Handling (MH).2. Develops and maintains systems which assure the accuracy of perpetual inventory counts and inventory locator systems to facilitate easy retrieval for all items.3. Develops and maintains reorder management systems (to include the application of par levels and min/max parameters) to assure a high level of customer service while minimizing inventory levels.4. Develops materials cost and inventory reduction programs and provides data to measure progress towards cost reduction targets.5. Develops and analyzes reports (i.e., ABC analysis, usage history, etc.) to target efforts to maximize inventory efficiencies6. Conducts the year-end physical inventory and other periodic inventory counts as necessary.7. Develops and maintains performance standards for materials systems.8. Provides inventory management expertise hospital-wide.9. Accurately count and distribute supplies including clean linen if applicable throughout the hospital in a timely and accurate manner ensuring daily operational needs are met .10. Ascertains daily order requirements through Lawson recommendations, physical counts, and personal observation.11. Has budgetary signature authority and places orders for needed items on a daily basis.12. Serves as a member of the buying team for items managed by MH to coordinate with Procurement, vendors, and hospital to make purchasing decisions for special situations (product back orders, urgent/emergent needs, unusual patient requirements, etc.13. Coordinates special deliveries from vendors or borrowing from other hospitals for items which are in short supply for any reason (back orders, usage spikes, unique patient specific needs, etc.).14. Maintains competencies and serves as back up in the absence of other Materials Management Inventory Control Analysts.15. Assists the director in developing and monitoring budget cost centers as assigned by the director.16. Maintains proficiency in the use of Lawson/Crystal and coordinates with the Application System Analyst to assure that the Lawson database is maintained in a current and accurate manner.17. Maintains necessary accounting knowledge and coordinates with Finance to assure that all necessary financial matters handled appropriately (perpetual inventory reconciliation, Lawson/GL interface, manual billings, etc.18. Provides reports through Lawson, Crystal or electronic spreadsheets as requested.19. Assists in training other personnel (Materials Handling Attendants, Inventory Control Analysts, etc.) with respect to inventory management and other related Lawson functions.20.
