Job summary

Mississippi Department of Employment Security in Tupelo, MS is seeking an Inventory Clerk responsible for regular cycle counts, reconciling physical stock with WMS records, and identifying variance causes to support accurate inventory control.

You will operate RF scanners, forklift equipment, and related handling tools, perform discrepancy investigations, ensure SOP compliance, and help maintain a safe, clean warehouse environment per OSHA standards.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Daily Inventory Auditing: Perform scheduled daily cycle counts using handheld RF scanners.
• Discrepancy Investigation: Research inventory variances by reviewing transaction logs, receiving records, and picking history.
• System Reconciliation: Input accurate count data into the WMS and assist with inventory adjustments.
• Equipment Operation: Safely operate material handling equipment to access pallet racks at varying heights.
• Process Compliance: Audit incoming/outgoing and internal inventory movements to ensure SOPs are followed.
• Quality Assurance: Identify damaged, expired, or mislabeled stock and assist in quarantine.
• Safety & Maintenance: Adhere to OSHA and warehouse safety standards, maintaining a safe environment.

Job description

The Inventory Clerk is responsible for conducting regular physical inventory counts to maintain high levels of inventory accuracy across the facility. This role involves comparing physical stock to records in the Warehouse Management System (WMS), identifying variance root causes, and performing audits to ensure seamless inventory tracking and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Daily Inventory Auditing: Perform scheduled daily cycle counts using handheld RF (Radio Frequency) scanners based on ABC velocity codes or location groups.
• Discrepancy Investigation: Research inventory variances (overages, shortages, misplacements) by reviewing recent transaction logs, receiving records, and picking history.
• System Reconciliation: Input accurate count data into the WMS and assist supervisors with approved inventory adjustments.
• Equipment Operation: Safely

operate material handling equipment (e.g., cherry picker, reach truck, forklift, order picker) to access pallet racks at varying heights.

• Process Compliance: Audit incoming, outgoing, and internal inventory movements (receiving, putaway, picking, and returns) to ensure standard operating procedures are followed.
• Quality Assurance: Identify and report damaged, expired, or improperly labeled stock, assisting in quarantine or scrap procedures as needed.
• Safety & Maintenance: Adhere to all OSHA and warehouse safety standards, maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
