Inventory and Spare Parts Control Specialist
To ensure the efficient management of inventory and spare parts, maintaining optimal stock levels, reducing waste, and supporting maintenance and production activities by ensuring timely availability of required components.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Inventory Management
- Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure adequate supply of spare parts and materials.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory transactions using inventory management systems (e.g., ERP software).
- Perform regular physical counts and reconcile discrepancies with recorded data.
- Ensure that obsolete, excess, and slow-moving inventory is identified and reported for disposal or reallocation.
Spare Parts Control
- Maintain a detailed database of spare parts, including specifications, usage history, lead times, and suppliers.
- Classify and label spare parts for easy identification and access.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to understand and forecast spare part needs based on equipment performance and maintenance schedules.
- Issue parts to technicians and departments in accordance with maintenance work orders.
Procurement Coordination
- Work closely with the procurement department to initiate purchase requests for replenishing inventory.
- Track outstanding orders and follow up with vendors to ensure timely delivery.
- Review vendor performance and pricing trends to support procurement decisions.
Documentation and Reporting
- Prepare inventory reports, usage trends, and performance metrics as required.
- Document all movement of inventory items in and out of the storage facilities.
- Maintain documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
Storage and Safety Compliance
- Ensure proper storage conditions for sensitive parts (e.g., temperature, humidity).
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe storage areas according to health and safety regulations.
- Ensure that all materials are stored in compliance with safety standards and that Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are accessible when applicable.
Continuous Improvement
- Suggest and implement improvements in inventory practices to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
- Participate in inventory-related audits and root cause analysis of inventory issues.
- Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to spare parts and inventory control.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of inventory management principles and systems.
- Knowledge of spare parts for machinery, tools, or technical equipment.
- Proficiency in ERP or inventory management software.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
