Job summary

RGP is seeking an Inventory Accounting Specialist to support inventory accounting, gross margin analysis, and operational accounting activities in Loveland, Colorado. The role involves analyzing inventory and cost accounting reports, investigating discrepancies, and collaborating with branch and finance teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.

You will work with ERP systems and Excel to perform daily analysis, research discrepancies, and support month-end close and internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• Experience in inventory or cost accounting and ERP.
• Strong Excel and MS Office proficiency.
• Understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience with SOX controls and monthly close.

Responsibilities

• Analyze gross margin, inventory, and cost reports daily.
• Research and resolve inventory discrepancies and margin issues.
• Partner with branches and finance to ensure accurate reporting.
• Assist with monthly SOX reporting and internal controls.
• Conduct annual physical inventories and variance analysis.

Job description

RGP is seeking an Inventory Accounting Specialist to support inventory accounting, gross margin analysis, and operational accounting activities for a leading organization. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Operations Accounting, this role is responsible for analyzing inventory and cost accounting reports, investigating discrepancies, supporting inventory controls, and partnering closely with branch and finance teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.

• Perform daily analysis of gross margin, inventory, and cost accounting reports for an assigned region.

• Research and resolve inventory discrepancies, questionable margin results, and inventory-related exceptions.

• Partner with branch managers, branch personnel, and finance teams to ensure accurate reporting of inventory transactions and margins.

• Support Regional Finance Managers and Analysts with inventory investigations and transaction reviews.

• Complete monthly SOX reporting and internal control activities related to inventory accounting.

• Review and validate inventory adjustments submitted by operational teams.

• Assist with consignment inventory processes and related reporting.

• Participate in annual physical inventory counts, reconciliations, variance analysis, and adjustment activities.

• Prepare journal entries, perform account reconciliations, and review accounting transactions for accuracy.

• Support month-end close activities and inventory accounting processes.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.

• Experience in accounting, finance, inventory accounting, or cost accounting.

• Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.

• Experience working with ERP systems.

• Strong Microsoft Excel skills and overall proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
