The University of Texas at Austin is seeking an Instructional Lab Manager for Intro Bio 206L on the UT Main Campus. You will ensure labs run smoothly, manage supplies, and supervise student lab assistants while assisting instructors and shaping future lab activities.

Qualified candidates hold a biology degree, have hands-on lab experience, and can train others in safe practices and standard molecular techniques. Schedule typically 7:00 AM–10:30 PM with some weekends; 40 hours weekly.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in biological sciences.
• Minimum of 2 years of laboratory work experience.
• Experience preparing solutions, media, and bacterial cultures.
• Experience with aseptic technique and introductory molecular techniques such as PCR.
• Experience procuring and maintaining lab equipment and materials.
• Experience with lab safety protocols and chemical/biological waste disposal.
• Experience supervising and training others in a work setting.

Aufgaben

• Support daily operations of a high-enrollment teaching lab course.
• Manage inventory, restock supplies, monitor equipment, and handle biohazardous and chemical waste.
• Train and coordinate undergraduate and graduate teaching assistants; assist students during labs.
• Collaborate with lead instructor to design and test lab activities to improve learning outcomes.
• Set up and take down equipment; organize materials for course laboratories.
• Develop new lab exercises and test feasibility of new protocols; write procedural guidelines.
