The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Research Science/Engineering Assistant for the Department of Chemistry on the UT Main Campus. The role involves hands-on work across organic chemistry, biology, and analytical instrumentation with flexible start dates and a renewable term; 40 hours weekly on-site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in scientific discipline.
• Laboratory experience (1-10 years)
• Maintain a complete and comprehensive laboratory notebook
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Experience with a minimum of one of the following: chemical proteomics, biochemistry, cell biology, mass spectroscopy, synthetic chemistry, flow cytometry, molecular biology or analytical instrumentation.
• Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Responsabilités

• Assist with routine lab management including ordering and inventory.
• Rodent care and colony management tasks as appropriate.
• Perform experiments related to immunology, cancer, and neuroscience.
• Molecular biology, cell culture, chemical synthesis, and instrument operation.
• Operate fluorescence gels, protein purification, Western blots, ELISAs and other assay work.
• Train to use mass spectrometers and related instruments.
