Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in a related field.
• Registered Neurodiagnostic credential with one of listed credentials (e.g., R EEG T., EP T., CLTM, R NCS T., CNIM).
• Minimum 5 years’ Neurodiagnostic experience with at least 1 year in supervision/leadership.
• CPR certification is required; ACLS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct supervision of the Neurodiagnostic staff.
• Develops policies, procedures and training materials for staff development.
• Supervises and provides direct patient care in accordance with clinical standards.
• Makes frequent patient inquiries/rounds to ensure quality of care and identifies improvement areas.
• Prepares patient care assignments considering staff skill mix and patient needs.
• Ensures safe patient care environment and department safety checks.

Education

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university is preferred

Registered through the Neurodiagnostic credentialing board and holds one of the following credentials in the Neurodiagnostic services overseen

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in performing Neurodiagnostic procedures in a patient care environment with at least 1 year supervisory/leadership experience

CPR certification is required

ACLS certification is preferred

Description

Responsible for planning, directing and coordinating the daily functions and workflow of assigned departmental personnel. Supervises Neurophysiology personnel involved in EEG, EMG, EP, IONM. Ensures department rules, regulations, procedures and protocols are properly followed; and other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Provides direct supervision of the Neurodiagnostic staff. Evaluates and reports on staff performance by providing feedback, education and mentoring on duties performed.
• Develops policies and procedures and training materials and provide education for overall development of the clinical staff.
• Supervises and provides direct patient care in accordance with accepted clinical standards while utilizing the department process.
• Makes frequent patient inquiries/rounds to assure the quality and appropriateness of patient care. Identifies areas needed for improvement in patient care delivery and plans for effective change. Serves as a resource to staff, colleagues and other departments.
• Prepares patient care assignments considering the skill mix and competence of the employees and the patient care needs.
• Assures a safe patient care environment. Coordinates the maintenance repairs and environmental health needs for the department. Assures safety/emergency checks are done according to department standards.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university is preferred
• Registered through the Neurodiagnostic credentialing board and in addition holds one of the following credentials in the Neurodiagnostic services overseen, which can include but not limited to R. EEG T., EP T., CLTM, R. NCS. T., CNIM
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in performing Neurodiagnostic procedures in a patient care environment with at least 1 year supervisory/leadership experience
• CPR certification is required
• ACLS certification is preferred

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland’s Faculty Physician’s Inc. salary range for this position.Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/training and other qualifications.
