Job summary

Cleveland Clinic’s Mercy Hospital is seeking an Interventional Vascular Technologist to support cutting-edge image-guided vascular procedures. You will assist physicians with angioplasty, stenting and thrombolysis, using fluoroscopic imaging to guide interventions and ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout exams.

Minimum qualifications include ARRT-registered radiologic technologist status, active state licensure and BLS.

Qualifications

• Graduates of an accredited school of radiologic technology.
• Registered Technologist credentialed by ARRT and in good standing.
• Current state licensure as a Radiologic Technologist.
• Basic Life Support certification.

Responsibilities

• Scrub in and perform vascular, interventional, and surgical procedures per protocol using sterile technique.
• Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort during and after exams.
• Demonstrate understanding of drugs used in interventional radiology, indications, contraindications and interactions.
• Record and maintain procedural data including injection data, fluoroscopic time and other details.
• Monitor equipment, maintain and repair as needed.

Interventional Vascular Technologists are specialized Interventional Radiologists that support the most cutting-edge therapies offered at Cleveland Clinic. In this role, you will assist physicians with minimally invasive, image-guided vascular procedures, including angioplasty, stenting and thrombolysis. You will use fluoroscopic equipment to capture images of blood vessels. By doing so, you will be able to intervene on a patient's potential heart blockages that could cause a heart attack, leading to saving their lives. Taking on this opportunity will not only allow you to advance your skills but can also lead to cross-training in Electrophysiology and additional educational training.

A caregiver in this position works days, from 7:30AM – 6:00PM or 8:00AM – 6:30PM + calls.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Utilize sterile or aseptic technique to scrub in and perform vascular, interventional, and surgical procedures per protocol.
• Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
• Ensure patients safety and comfort during and after exams.
• Demonstrate understanding of primary purpose of drugs used in IR, indications, contraindications, contrast drug interactions and major effects.
• Record and maintain procedural data to include injection data, elapsed fluoroscopic time and procedural information.
• Monitor equipment, systems, clean equipment, and effects timely repair.
• Learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology.
• Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and in good standing.
• Current state licensure as a Radiology Technologist.
• Basic Life Support certification.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• One year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist.
• Certification in cardiovascular-interventional radiography or vascular-interventional radiology.
• Previous experience in a high-volume angiography department.
• Knowledge of radiologic physics and computerized vascular equipment to safely inject and image human vascular anatomy.
• Knowledge of vascular anatomy and pathology sufficient to apply to interventional and diagnostic exams.

Physical Requirements:

• Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $34.50

Maximum hourly: $51.00
