Job description

Join to apply for the Interventional Technologist role at UPMC

UPMC Shadyside is hiring a casual Interventional Technologist to join the team! The schedule will consist of daylight hours Monday - Friday between 8am - 4:30pm, with weekends and holidays off.

This position is suitable for both experienced imaging professionals looking to work extra hours and new graduates eager to apply their education.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer contrast in accordance with protocols under the guidance of the proceduralist.
  • Properly position patients and apply radiographic techniques for interventional procedures, understanding patient preparation, equipment operation, and monitoring systems.
  • Identify patients using two identifiers and follow universal protocol during procedures.
  • Review patient history and physician orders, applying departmental protocols for optimal data acquisition.
  • Document patient history in electronic records as required.
  • Maintain aseptic technique and patient safety during procedures, incorporating a time-out process.
  • Communicate instructions clearly to patients, explaining procedures to ease fears and gain cooperation.
  • Ensure exams are properly coded, networked, and charges entered in the RIS system.
  • Interact professionally with patients and colleagues, demonstrating care, respect, and effective listening.
  • Work as part of a team within the department and other departments to ensure efficient patient care.
  • Support other departments with general radiographic procedures as needed.
  • Graduate of an ARRT-approved Radiologic Technology program.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • ARRT certification as a Radiologic Technologist is required.
  • CPR or BLS certification required.
  • CPR certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire, based on AHA standards.
  • Active ARRT certification.
  • Act 34 clearance.
