The Department of Family and Community Medicine and the Department of Neurological Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University seek a fellowship-trained interventional spine physician as a faculty member in the Division of Sports Medicine and Exercise Medicine (DS&EM).

Job Description: The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:

  • Board certification or board eligibility in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
  • Completion of a North American Spine Society (NASS) Interventional Spine and Musculoskeletal Medicine (ISMM) fellowship, completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-accredited Pain Medicine fellowship, or demonstration of interventional spine procedure competency in practice.
  • Passion for the holistic treatment of spine and musculoskeletal disorders.
  • Experience in musculoskeletal ultrasound.
  • Passion for medical education, mentorship, and professional development.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team of medical professionals and administrators.
  • Passion for research and scholarly activity.
  • Strong commitment to health equity.
  • Growth mindset with interest in developing new clinical and educational initiatives.

Responsibilities: The faculty member will work closely with the DS&EM Division Director and the Department of Neurological Surgery to:

  • Establish a robust spine and musculoskeletal medicine clinical practice.
  • Collaborate with surgical, therapy, behavioral health, and other ancillary services to deliver evidence-based, efficient care.
  • Serve as a role model for clinical excellence and professionalism.
  • Support the training of sports medicine fellows and medical students.
  • Engage in scholarly activities, including research, publications, and presentations.
  • Participate in community service initiatives and recruitment efforts.

The successful candidate will be eligible for an academic appointment at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Jefferson University.

Our clinical model emphasizes comprehensive musculoskeletal care, including individualized nutrition, exercise, and chronic condition management, working seamlessly with surgical partners.

The department offers a well-established sports medicine fellowship program since 1996, training leaders in the field, and provides electives for medical students and residents.
