Job Details

The Department of Family and Community Medicine and the Department of Neurological Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University are seeking a fellowship-trained interventional spine physician as a faculty member in the Division of Sports Medicine and Exercise Medicine (DS&EM).

Job Description

The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:

  1. Board certification or board eligibility in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
  2. Completion of a North American Spine Society (NASS) Interventional Spine and Musculoskeletal Medicine (ISMM) fellowship, or an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-accredited Pain Medicine fellowship, or demonstrate interventional spine procedure competency in practice.
  3. A passion for the holistic treatment of spine and musculoskeletal disorders.
  4. Experience in musculoskeletal ultrasound.
  5. A passion for medical education, mentorship, and professional development.
  6. Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with a diverse team of medical professionals and administrators.
  7. A passion for research and scholarly activity.
  8. A strong commitment to health equity.
  9. A growth mindset with interest and/or ability to develop new clinical and educational initiatives.

The faculty member will work closely with the DS&EM Division Director and the Department of Neurological Surgery to achieve the following objectives:

  1. Establish a robust clinical practice in spine and musculoskeletal medicine.
  2. Collaborate with surgical, therapy, behavioral health, and other ancillary services to deliver evidence-based, efficient care.
  3. Serve as a role model for clinical excellence, productivity, and professionalism.
  4. Participate as a core faculty member in the sports medicine fellowship, supporting fellows' clinical and professional development.
  5. Mentor Thomas Jefferson University medical students and residents interested in spine and musculoskeletal medicine.
  6. Collaborate on scholarly activities, including research, publications, and presentations.
  7. Engage in the DS&EM community service initiatives.
  8. Assist in recruiting incoming sports medicine fellows.

The successful candidate will be eligible for an academic appointment at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University.

Our graduates hold leadership roles in various fellowships nationally and are integral in caring for collegiate and professional athletes. We also offer electives for medical students and residents.

The DS&EM collaborates with the Department of Neurological Surgery to provide evidence-based care for spine and musculoskeletal disorders. The ideal candidate will excel in working with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, surgeons, therapists, and behavioral health professionals.
