Job summary

University of Miami is seeking a Special Procedures Technologist 2 to assist in interventional radiology and complex procedures. You will operate radiographic equipment to obtain high-quality images with minimal radiation exposure and support the radiology team in patient care.

The role requires an Associate degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, with strong teamwork and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Learning agility to adapt to new procedures and technologies.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Verifies patient identity by checking name and date of birth.
• Assists with interviews before procedures and documents information.
• Ensures informed consent is obtained by the attending radiologist.
• Prepares patients to obtain optimal results and reduce anxiety.
• Notifies the appropriate person of changes in patient status.
• Maintains sterile technique and aseptic procedures.
• Assists radiologist with supplies during procedures.
• Applies radiation protection to minimize exposure.
• Position patients and obtain scout films of the area.
• Supports physical and emotional needs of patients during procedures.
• Initiates life support and assists in CPR during emergencies.
• Maintains knowledge of patient monitoring devices.
