Interventional Radiology Technologist - PRN (float midtown/downtown campus)

• Location: UMMC Midtown Campus
• Position Type: Non-Exempt

UMMC Midtown Campus, part of the University of Maryland Medical Center, is a trusted teaching hospital in Baltimore City, dedicated to community health and managing chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, pulmonary conditions, and infectious diseases.

Under indirect supervision, the Radiographer performs diagnostic, interventional radiology, and cardiac procedures, adhering to radiation safety principles. Responsibilities include coordinating daily lab activities, operating advanced imaging equipment, and administering contrast media.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic interventional procedures, ensuring quality patient care and assisting with reduced length of stay initiatives.
• Verify patient identity and review requisitions for consistency and accuracy.
• Assess patient condition, ensure safety, and properly position patients for procedures.
• Insert and maintain IV access devices, administer contrast media, and monitor vital signs.
• Set up sterile trays and accessories for procedures.
• Document procedures and charges accurately in the Meditech system.
• Participate in expense control initiatives.
• Prepare patients for sterile procedures per protocol.
• Mark and identify radiographs and images properly.
• Report safety hazards or equipment malfunctions promptly.
• Collaborate with IR nurses and physicians to monitor patient status; recognize cardiac rhythms and operate the Mac Lab as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and stock supplies in interventional rooms.
• Build positive relationships with staff, patients, and visitors.
• Demonstrate technical competence and developmental awareness for age-specific populations.
• Perform other duties as assigned and support UMMC Midtown Campus' mission and policies.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an AMA-approved Radiologic Technology School
• Registered with ARRT and licensed in Maryland
• Successful completion of basic cardiac rhythm recognition course
• Minimum 1 year radiology and 6 months interventional experience (training available for the right candidate)

Note: Candidate must be willing to float between downtown and midtown campuses as needed.

Compensation

• Pay Range: $58.095 - $71.005
• Eligible for shift differential
