Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking an Interventional Radiology Technologist I to perform interventional procedures, ensure patient safety, and manage imaging and procedural support. The role involves sterile technique, vascular access, and on-call readiness.

Grounded in EMT/ABL requirements, this position offers a $15,000 sign-on bonus paid in installments and opportunities to participate across Neuro-IR, Interventional Cardiology, and other IR subspecialties.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technologist program or Associate Degree in Applied Sciences.
• ARRT Certification.
• IEMA Licensure.
• BLS through American Heart Association.
• ACLS through American Heart Association within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs all aspects of patient care in a manner which optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
• Performs all aspects of interventional procedure process including set up, patient preparation, procedures, supply management and room turnover.
• Pre-procedure: assesses relevant clinical data (lab values, allergies, history) prior to preparing patient for procedure or providing instructions.
• Performs sterile table setup and patient preparation following aseptic techniques; maintains medical and surgical asepsis during procedures.
• Assists with scrub in and circulate on diagnostic and interventional procedures with physicians in subspecialties (cath, IR, neuroIR, EP).
• Positions and drapes patient to facilitate vascular access while considering privacy and comfort.
• Performs intra-procedural clinical documentation and ensures correct entries for charges.
• Assists with lighting, moving, positioning patients as needed.
• Uses imaging systems to generate quality diagnostic data and outcomes.
• Performs imaging procedures in accordance with radiation safety practices to limit exposure.
• Reviews imaging data and takes corrective actions to meet standards.
• Completes filing and post processing of images.
• Assists with coordination of procedural scheduling.
• Maintains clean work areas and equipment; monitors stock and supplies.
• Reports equipment failures or irregularities to supervision/biomedical staff promptly.
• Assists in updating procedure manuals for angiography, tomography, and other radiographic procedures.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, team members and providers.
• Manages work schedule and completes tasks on time.
• Must be able to provide on-call coverage within 30 minutes for emergent procedures.
