Department Overview

This position functions in the Department of Interventional Radiology as an integral member of our team approach to patient care. The Interventional Radiology Technologist, in collaboration with physicians and nurses, strives to provide high quality care to every patient coming through the unit. Daily assignments vary due to the range of procedures that may be completed from central line placements to embolizations and strokes. The patient population varies from neonates to geriatrics, adding another unique layer to the care provided in the unit. This position rotates between the dual locations of IR, including South Waterfront/CHH2 and the 11A unit of the main OHSU Hospital, with call requirements.

Responsibilities
  1. Assist physicians during procedures while operating complex radiologic imaging equipment such as fluoroscopy, digital subtraction angiography, ultrasonography, and cone beam CT.
  2. Prepare patients and supplies under sterile conditions, and assist in procedures as needed.
  3. Accurately obtain x-rays, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  4. Operate injectors, select contrast agents, and collaborate with staff to provide patient care during exams.
  5. Maintain and troubleshoot imaging equipment, report malfunctions, and coordinate equipment sharing.
  6. Work independently on-call with department physicians and nurses.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Valid Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist license from the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging.
  • OHSU-approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • At least two years of experience with radiologic equipment or equivalent training.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Over 2 years of experience supporting complex interventional procedures.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Knowledge and skills in IR procedures, with certifications such as Cardiac Interventional or Vascular Interventional from ASRT preferred.
Additional Details
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple needs and ensure safety.
  • Proficiency with hospital clinical equipment and computer systems.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and changing locations.
  • Availability to arrive within 30 minutes of emergency paging while on call.
