Weekender - 2 twelve-hour shifts on Saturday and Sunday, and 1 twelve-hour shift during the week.
This posting reflects an opening for an IR Technologist I. We are seeking candidates for that position, but Geisinger reserves the right to consider applicants for higher levels, including IR Technologist II, based on skills, qualifications, and experience. Responsibilities include:
- Performing interventional, neuro, and endovascular procedures, including technical, procedural, and equipment performance, patient care and education, interfacing with clinical departments, issue resolution, digital imaging quality, and efficiency.
- Maintaining relationships with Radiology Services partners, patients, and referring physicians.
- Ensuring imaging procedure quality across various systems and participating in regulatory requirements.
Job Duties:
- Assist with invasive procedures and digital imaging, including embolizations, tumor treatments, intracranial and intravascular stenting, and limb preservation.
- Perform endovascular repair of aortic aneurysms.
- Assist physicians during procedures, diagnostic studies, and treatments.
- Operate and monitor equipment, assist with patient positioning, and provide emotional support.
- Prepare and position patients, administer contrast media, and ensure safety standards.
- Explain procedures to patients and answer questions.
- Report patient reactions and changes to the nursing staff.
- Document medical information accurately.
- Maintain knowledge of interventional supplies and equipment.
- Identify neuro, thoracic, abdominal, and peripheral vasculature.
- Operate digital imaging equipment and manage data entry into systems.
- Obtain and reconstruct 3D images and digital subtraction angiography.
- Perform quality control tests and report irregularities.
- Monitor radiation doses during procedures.
- Ensure equipment and supplies are clean, sterilized, and functional.
- Maintain scheduling and documentation for procedures.
- Order supplies and maintain inventory levels.
- Complete all required quality improvement documentation.
Work is performed in a clinical environment, with accountability for job-specific obligations and policy compliance. Additional competencies may be outlined in department-specific orientations.

Qualifications:
- Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Radiologic Technology (Required).
- Certified Radiology Technologist (ARRT) and BLS certification.
