Job description

Your job is more than a job. The Interventional Radiology Scrub Tech assists the Cardiologist, Radiologist, Vascular Surgeon or other interventional provider with invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures utilizing advanced radiographic imaging equipment.

Responsibilities

• Register cardiology patients by confirming patient identification and reviewing consultation requests for invasive cardiovascular procedures.
• Assist with diagnostic and interventional cases, including PTCA, stents, IVUS, angioplasty, cutting balloon, IABP, permanent pacemaker insertion or defibrillator insertion, among other procedures.
• Manipulate hemodynamic recording/procedural record equipment.
• Scrub as needed per case requirements.
• Choose correct order codes for tests performed and complete steps to submit charges.
• Maintain both automated and hard copy logs and assure that supply and procedure charges are submitted.
• Maintain equipment, work area, and adequate supplies.
• Maintain good radiation safety; in-services provided by cardiovascular/X-ray tech as needed.
• Coordinate work schedule with departmental leader to assure workload coverage.
• Assume responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the invasive lab department.
