UVA Community Health in Northern Virginia seeks an experienced Physician Assistant to join a high-performing Radiology team serving three community hospitals. This role blends diagnostic radiology with interventional procedures in a patient-centered environment within an academic health system.

You’ll rotate across Manassas, Haymarket, and Culpeper, perform fluoroscopic exams and light IR procedures, review imaging, obtain consent, and coordinate care with radiologists and staff.

Qualifications

  • NCCPA-certified Physician Assistant.
  • Virginia licensure or eligibility.
  • Fluoroscopy training.
  • Strong clinical judgement and procedural skills.
  • Experience with diagnostic fluoroscopy and image-guided procedures.
  • Prior radiology or interventional radiology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform real-time fluoroscopic procedures and assist in image-guided interventions.
  • Review prior imaging, obtain history, and formulate care plans.
  • Obtain informed consent and provide post-procedure education.

UVA Community Health is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant to join a high-performing Radiology team serving three community hospitals across Northern Virginia. This is a unique opportunity to practice at the intersection of diagnostic and interventional radiology, with a role designed to balance fluoroscopic procedures and image-guided interventions in a dynamic, patient-centered environment. Clinical Responsibilities:
Diagnostic Radiology:
  • Perform real-time fluoroscopic procedures (e.g., barium swallows, upper GI series, esophagrams, joint injections/arthrograms, lumbar punctures, HSGs).
  • Review prior imaging, gather clinical history, and formulate accurate assessment plans.
  • Generate clear, accurate preliminary procedural reports for attending radiologist review.
  • Possess or able to obtain ARRT fluoroscopy training to operate fluoroscopy
Interventional Radiology:

Perform light IR procedures (e.g., paracentesis, thoracentesis, PICC insertions, port removals, lumbar punctures).

  • Conduct daily inpatient rounding for pre- and post-procedural IR patients.
Patient Care & Coordination:
  • Conduct comprehensive pre-procedural histories, physical exams, and lab reviews.
  • Review prior imaging
  • Obtain informed consent, thoroughly explaining risks, benefits, and alternatives to patients.
  • Provide post-procedure education and follow-up care instructions to patients and families.

This position will rotate to all 3 Community Health Hospitals located in Manassas, Haymarket, and Culpeper.

Candidate Qualifications:
  • NCCPA-certified Physician Assistant
  • Virginia licensure (or eligibility)
  • Fluoroscopy training (VA Board compliant)
  • Strong clinical judgement, procedural proficiencies, collaborative and communication skills
  • Experience with diagnostic fluoroscopy, arthrograms, paracentesis, thoracentesis, lumbar punctures, or other image-guided procedures
  • Prior experience in radiology, interventional radiology preferred

The base compensation range for this role is an hourly rate of $61.28 - $74.82 for a 1.0 clinical FTE status. Individual compensation will be determined by fair market value and the selected candidate’s qualifications, clinical experience, specialty training, credentials, and/or education. Please note that the pay range does not include any applicable incentive compensation programs, such as productivity, quality, non-productivity, or other incentives that may be available for eligible positions.
