Experienced Physician Assistant – Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology

Location: Manassas, Haymarket, & Culpeper, Virginia.

Position Overview

UVA Community Health is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant to join a high‑performing Radiology team serving three community hospitals across Northern Virginia. Clinical Responsibilities

Diagnostic Radiology

• Perform real‑time fluoroscopic procedures (e.g., barium swallows, upper GI series, esophagrams, joint injections/arthrograms, lumbar punctures, HSGs).
• Review prior imaging, gather clinical history, and formulate accurate assessment plans.
• Generate clear preliminary procedural reports for attending radiologist review.
• Obtain or maintain ARRT fluoroscopy training to operate fluoroscopy equipment.

Interventional Radiology

• Perform light IR procedures (e.g., paracentesis, thoracentesis, PICC insertions, port removals, lumbar punctures).
• Conduct daily inpatient rounding for pre‑ and post‑procedural IR patients.

Patient Care & Coordination

• Conduct comprehensive pre‑procedural histories, physical exams, and lab reviews.
• Review prior imaging.
• Obtain informed consent, thoroughly explaining risks, benefits, and alternatives.
• Provide post‑procedure education and follow‑up care instructions to patients and families.

This position will rotate to all three Community Health Hospitals located in Manassas, Haymarket, and Culpeper.

Candidate Qualifications

• NCCPA‑certified Physician Assistant
• Virginia licensure (or eligibility)
• Fluoroscopy training (VA Board compliant)
• Strong clinical judgment, procedural proficiencies, collaborative and communication skills
• Experience with diagnostic fluoroscopy, arthrograms, paracentesis, thoracentesis, lumbar punctures, or other image‑guided procedures
• Prior radiology or interventional radiology experience preferred

Compensation

Base compensation: hourly rate of $61.28 - $74.82 for a 1.0 clinical FTE status. Individual compensation will be determined by fair market value and the selected candidate’s qualifications, clinical experience, specialty training, credentials, and education. Pay range does not include incentive compensation programs.
