Job summary

North Oaks Health System in Hammond, LA seeks a PRN Radiology Nurse for Interventional Radiology. The nurse will perform pre-, intra-, and post-procedure duties, maintain sterile technique, administer conscious sedation under physician direction, and participate in 24/7 call coverage.

Requirements include RN licensure in Louisiana, ACLS certification, and 2+ years of hospital nursing experience with the ability to recognize arrhythmias and monitor EKG/BP/Pulse Ox.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and licensed to practice as an RN in Louisiana.
• ACLS certification required.
• Ability to recognize cardiac arrhythmias.
• Minimum 2 years of hospital nursing experience preferred.
• Demonstrates critical thinking and monitors knowledge (EKG, BP, Pulse Ox).

Responsibilities

• Prescreen interventional patients for history and medications; assist Radiologist.
• Monitor patients during interventional procedures and document responses.
• Assist physician/PA/RPA in procedures while maintaining sterile technique.
• Review physician orders and explain procedures to patient and family.
• Prepare medications and manage procedural field; dispose of hazardous items.
• Conduct safety inspections on equipment and report issues.
• Maintain inventory of supplies for the room and rotate stock.
• Assist in patient movement and respond to emergencies.
• Perform other duties as directed by supervisor or director.
