Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a weekend inpatient role at Ascension St. Vincent Indianapolis. The position covers Saturdays and Sundays with extended weekend hours in a busy tertiary center.

The APP will join an experienced team, coordinate inpatient consultations, and work within a nonprofit health system that supports ongoing professional development and strong multidisciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Nursing required.
• Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nurse credentials.
• BLS Provider within 1 month of hire (AHA/ARC accepted).

Responsibilities

• Manage high-level inpatient consultations and active floor management during weekend shifts.
• Coordinate care across Vascular Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, and Interventional Radiology with attending physicians.
• Collaborate with inpatient teams to implement evidence-based management for complex hospitalized patients.

Schedule: Full-Time (0.9 FTE / 36 hours per week, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 7:00 AM â 7:00 PM)

This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated advanced practice provider to join an employed position within a busy, well-respected practice, supported by a strong referral base and the full resources of a robust health system network.

• Join an established, highly experienced team of physicians and APPs across three collaborative surgical and interventional subspecialties
• Call structure: No call (Weekend shift coverage only)
• Practice setting: Inpatient (Dedicated weekend inpatient consult and floor service coverage; no clinic responsibilities)
• Access to Sunrise Clinical Manager (SCM) EMR, tertiary surgical subspecialty infrastructure, and comprehensive multidisciplinary hospital support
• Employed position within a nonprofit health system
• Board Certified or Board Eligible as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)
• Eligible for Indiana state medical licensure and DEA registration
• Manage high-level inpatient consultations, active floor management, and acute care coordination across Vascular Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, and Interventional Radiology services during weekend shifts.
• Collaborate with attending surgeons, interventionalists, and inpatient care teams to execute diagnostic evaluations, monitor clinical courses, and implement evidence‑based management plans for complex hospitalized patients.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s): None Required.
• Preferred Credential(s): BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Nurse Practitioner.
• Registered Nurse.

Education

• Master's degree of Nursing required.
