Job summary

Urology of Virginia is seeking a Medical Assistant to support outpatient operations, assisting physicians, managing patient flow, and documenting histories and vitals. You will coordinate referrals, handle electronic prescriptions, and assist during examinations in a fast-paced clinic environment.

The role requires experience as a medical assistant, knowledge of EMR systems, strong communication, and solid organizational skills; BLS and a high school diploma are required, with C-CMA preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience as a medical assistant in a clinical setting.
• Knowledge of medical office management systems and procedures.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and planning abilities.
• Proficiency in MS Office and EMR systems.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS Certification.
• English language proficiency.
• Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Interview patients and document basic medical history.
• Take vitals pre/post-op and document findings in their patient chart.
• Organize, authorize, and schedule appointments for referrals.
• Send prescriptions electronically, by fax, or by verbally calling them in.
• Assist during medical examinations.
• Triage patient calls, assess the problem, consult with the physician.
• Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms.
• Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments.
