Job summary

Virginia Urology seeks a Medical Assistant to support clinical staff by preparing exam rooms, taking vitals, and assisting with examinations and tests. The role includes specimen collection, basic lab testing, and patient education, contributing to efficient, patient-centered care.

Responsibilities include patient triage, charting in EMR, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA and safety protocols. Some travel between offices may be required, with travel time paid.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a medical assisting program or equivalent.
• BLS Certified.
• Strong communication skills.
• Passion for helping others.
• Technologically proficient.
• High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
• Experience in healthcare, customer service or administrative role.

Responsibilities

• Prepares exam rooms, patient charts, and stock supplies.
• Takes and records vitals; obtains medical history.
• Assists providers during examinations, treatments, and tests.
• Performs CLIA-waived lab testing following guidelines.
• Maintains HIPAA compliance and patient privacy.
• Covers phones for patient triage and scheduling.
• Maintains clean, sterile instruments and Central Sterile Room.
