Brooklyn VA Medical Center — VA New York Harbor Health Care System in Brooklyn, NY seeks an Interventional Radiologist to deliver full IR services onsite and participate in on-call coverage. The role focuses on direct patient care with remaining time for quality improvement and team collaboration.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree is required.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Interventional Radiology (American Board of Radiology) and certification must be current.
  • Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in any US state, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
  • Current DEA registration.
  • Active NPI number.
  • Current ACLS and BLS certification.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Ability to successfully complete VA credentialing and privileging (VetPro) and a federal background investigation (NACI).
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S.; not listed on the HHS OIG List of Excluded Individuals/Entities.
  • Proof of required immunizations and TB screening per CDC guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a broad scope of interventional radiology procedures, including angiography, balloon angioplasty, stent placement, embolization and chemoembolization, thrombolysis and IVC filter placement, image-guided biopsy, radiofrequency ablation, and cryoablation, plus access interventions.
  • Provide consultation to referring physicians on indications and determine appropriate treatment plan.
  • Review consults, orders, and next-day patient cases (minimum two hours daily).
  • Provide post-procedure evaluation, follow-up, and management of complications.
  • Ensure timely communication of test results per VHA Directive 1088.
  • Document all care in the VA EHR (CPRS/VistA).
  • Participate in peer review, quality improvement activities, and monthly staff meetings.
  • Comply with patient safety, infection control, and HIPAA requirements.
