Qualifications

Job description

Job Description - Interventional Radiologic Technologist- PRN (240003G7)

The Interventional Radiologic Tech will perform high quality interventional procedures and diagnostic exams while providing excellent patient care.

PRN- As Needed- Variable/Flexible Shifts available

Qualifications

Minimum Work Experience:
1 year Clinical Interventional experience in a hospital environment (Preferred)

Required Licenses and Certifications:
ARRT or Equivalent (Required)

Functional Accountabilities

Performance of Special Imaging Procedures:

  1. Direct and control the flow of patients.
  2. Serve as department liaison with nursing service and anesthesia.
  3. Perform daily quality control testing of equipment specific to interventional radiology.
  4. Understand and perform all aspects of neuro, vascular and non-vascular interventional exams.
  5. Assist interventional physicians as directed and in the diagnostic area when necessary.
  6. Schedule exams as required.

Quality Control:

  1. Assure permanent film identification by using lead markers.
  2. Identify each radiograph/image with proper and permanent patient data.
  3. Follow correct procedures regarding warm-up, use and shut-down of equipment.
  4. Check paperwork, film jackets and patient charges for accuracy prior to submission and complete RIS assignments immediately following exam.
  5. Ensure cleanliness of exams rooms and equipment by all personnel.
  6. Assume Quality Assurance responsibilities to assist technologists and radiologists in determining acceptability of images.

Patient Care:

  1. Greet patients respectfully, introduces self to patient and treat all patients/families in a kind, courteous and professional manner.
  2. Assure room is prepared & stocked prior to start of exam.
  3. Explain exam to patients/parents.
  4. Make every attempt to meet scheduled appointment times and accommodate stat or add-on requests.
  5. Communicate with patient throughout the exam and release patient/parent with appropriate follow-up info.
  6. Present a neat and professional image via appropriate dress and grooming.
  7. Equally share on-call responsibilities with all interventional technologists.

Clinical Safety:

  1. Adhere to all OSHA regulations.
  2. Inquire about menstrual status and possibility of pregnancy for female adolescents and teens.
  3. Shield patients whenever possible.
  4. Practice personal radiation safety.
  5. Ensure Time Outs are conducted prior to start of procedure.
  6. Train and orient new technologists within the Modality.
  7. Troubleshoot equipment and computer issues in conjunction with Radiology Manager and IT staff.
  8. Ensure all staff comply with departmental requirement for use of personal protection equipment and monitoring (lead Aprons, gloves and wearing film badge).

Professional Development:

  1. Maintain A.R.R.T. certification.
  2. Biennially update CPR certification.
  3. Complete mandatory annual reviews.
  4. Attend seminars and in-services.
