The Interventional Radiologic Tech will perform high-quality interventional procedures and diagnostic exams while providing excellent patient care.

Qualifications
Minimum Work Experience
1 year of clinical interventional experience in a hospital environment (Preferred)
Required Licenses and Certifications
ARRT or equivalent (Required)
Functional Accountabilities
Performance of Special Imaging Procedures
- Direct and control the flow of patients.
- Serve as department liaison with nursing service and anesthesia.
- Perform daily quality control testing of equipment specific to interventional radiology.
- Understand and perform all aspects of neuro, vascular, and non-vascular interventional exams.
- Assist interventional physicians as directed and in the diagnostic area when necessary.
- Schedule exams as required.
Quality Control
- Assure permanent film identification by using lead markers.
- Identify each radiograph/image with proper and permanent patient data.
- Follow correct procedures regarding warm-up, use, and shut-down of equipment.
- Check paperwork, film jackets, and patient charges for accuracy prior to submission and complete RIS assignments immediately following exam.
- Ensure cleanliness of exam rooms and equipment by all personnel.
- Assume Quality Assurance responsibilities to assist technologists and radiologists in determining acceptability of images.
Patient Care
- Greet patients respectfully, introduce yourself, and treat all patients/families in a kind, courteous, and professional manner.
- Ensure the room is prepared and stocked prior to the start of the exam.
- Explain the exam to patients/parents.
- Make every attempt to meet scheduled appointment times and accommodate stat or add-on requests.
- Communicate with patients throughout the exam and provide appropriate follow-up information upon release.
- Present a neat and professional image via appropriate dress and grooming.
- Share on-call responsibilities with all interventional technologists.
Clinical Safety
- Adhere to all OSHA regulations.
- Inquire about menstrual status and pregnancy possibility for female adolescents and teens.
- Shield patients whenever possible.
- Practice personal radiation safety.
- Ensure Time Outs are conducted prior to procedures.
- Train and orient new technologists within the modality.
- Troubleshoot equipment and computer issues with Radiology Manager and IT staff.
- Ensure staff compliance with departmental personal protection equipment use (lead aprons, gloves, film badges).
Professional Development
- Maintain ARRT certification.
- Update CPR certification biennially.
- Complete mandatory annual reviews.
- Attend seminars and in-services.
