Job summary

The Elliot Health System is seeking a skilled Mammography Technologist to join our radiology team. You will independently perform screening and diagnostic mammography under physician direction, following departmental policies and ASRT standards.

This role requires accreditation as a Radiologic Technologist, 5 years’ experience, and ARRT Mammography certification. Strong ultrasound/stereotactic biopsy experience is preferred; BLS is required during employment.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program.
• 5 years of experience as a radiologic technologist.
• Certification by ARRT in Mammography; BLS capability during employment.
• Experience with breast imaging procedures; stereotactic and ultrasound preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs mammography procedures according to ASRT standards and ethics.
• Performs interventional breast imaging procedures under radiologist guidance.
• Adheres to departmental exam protocols and quality systems.
• Participates in quality control and quality assurance using APIE.
• Executes equipment quality control and regulatory compliance.
• Interviews and schedules patients for interventional procedures; answers questions.

About the Job

The practice of mammography is performed by a segment of health care professionals responsible for the administration of ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. Independently performs screening and diagnostic mammography exams based on institutional policies and/or practice standards and/or follows the directive of the interpreting physician to assist in the completion of the mammography exam.

What You’ll Do

• Performs mammography procedures based on the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) “Mammography Practice Standards” and the ASRT “Code of Ethics”
• Performs interventional breast imaging procedures according to departmental procedures and policies and under the direction of a radiologist and Medical Director, Breast Imaging
• Understands and adheres to departmental exam protocols
• Actively participates in quality control and quality assurance activities using the “APIE” model
• Performs equipment quality control per protocols at specified intervals in order to assure accurate performance of equipment and meet regulatory requirements
• Interviews and schedules patients for interventional breast procedures, explains procedures, and assures that the patient’s questions and needs are met

Who You Are

• Successful completion of an accredited Radiological Technologist program, Required
• 5 years of experience as a radiologic technologist, Required
• Experience with biopsy procedures specifically stereotactic and ultrasound is strongly preferred
• Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Required.
• Certified by ARRT in Mammography, Required
• Ability to obtain BLS during employment
