Job summary

Mass General Brigham is hiring to support Advanced Cardiovascular Procedures, including cardiac, vascular, and electrophysiology settings at The Brigham and Women’s Hospital. The role involves assisting physicians, using specialized imaging and hemodynamic equipment, and providing thorough patient care from pre to post procedure stages.

Ideal candidates hold an associate degree in Radiology (bachelor preferred) and state licensure with BLS/ACLS.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree Radiology required; bachelor’s degree Radiology preferred.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required/preferred as listed.
  • Radiologic Technologist license required; ARRT registration required; RCIS/RCES preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist physicians and clinical teams during diagnostic and interventional cardiac, vascular, structural heart, and electrophysiology procedures.
  • Operate advanced cardiovascular imaging, monitoring, and diagnostic technologies.
  • Perform pre-, intra-, and post-procedure patient assessments and respond to changes in condition using ACLS principles.
  • Prepare procedure rooms, establish sterile fields, and uphold infection prevention and radiation safety standards.
  • Educate patients and families and provide post-procedure care and documentation.

Job Summary

Support Advanced Cardiovascular Procedures
Assist physicians and clinical teams during diagnostic and interventional cardiac, vascular, structural heart, and electrophysiology procedures, ensuring high-quality patient care throughout the treatment process.

Operate Specialized Imaging and Clinical Equipment
Utilize advanced cardiovascular imaging, monitoring, and diagnostic technologies to capture accurate clinical data and support safe, effective procedural outcomes.

Monitor and Assess Patients Across the Continuum of Care
Perform pre-, intra-, and post-procedure patient assessments, monitor ECG and hemodynamic data, and respond to changes in patient condition using sound clinical judgment and ACLS principles.

Maintain a Safe and Sterile Procedural Environment
Prepare procedure rooms, establish sterile fields, uphold infection prevention standards, and follow radiation and patient safety protocols to ensure a safe care environment.

Provide Patient Education and Post-Procedure Care
Educate and support patients and families throughout their care experience, manage post-procedure recovery and hemostasis, and communicate clinical concerns to the provider team as appropriate.

Contribute to Operational Excellence and Team Development
Maintain accurate documentation, manage inventory and equipment readiness, support quality improvement initiatives, participate in staff education, and provide flexible coverage to meet departmental needs.

Qualifications
Education
  • Associate’s degree Radiology required; bachelor’s degree Radiology preferred
Licenses and Credentials
  • Basic Life Support [BLS] required
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support [ACLS (AHA)] - American Heart Association (AHA) required
  • Radiologic Technologist state license required
  • Registered Technologist [R.T.(ARRT)] - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist [RCIS] - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) preferred
  • Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist [RCES] - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) preferred
Experience
  • Experience in an accredited cardiac catheterization laboratory or related field 0-1 year required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with patients and multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including during emergencies.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational abilities to manage multiple diagnostic and patient care responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR), hemodynamic systems, and specialized clinical technologies, with the ability to learn required systems within 3 months.
  • Ability to independently identify and troubleshoot patient or equipment issues, adjust priorities, and elevate concerns appropriately when needed.
  • Commitment to delivering patient-centered care, promoting excellent customer service, and exercising sound judgment, creativity, and initiative during procedures.
  • Capable of performing in high-stress, emergency, and on-call environments, while working with adult, elderly, and critically ill patients and meeting physical demands such as lifting supplies and patients.
