INTERVENTIONAL CARDIOLOGIST

Mary Washington Healthcare is seeking experiencedinterventional cardiologists to join our newly created multi-specialty cardiology clinic in Fredericksburg, Virginia. You will enjoy the benefits of being a hospital employee and part of a multispecialty group comprised of 300+ members, including hospitalists and a wide range of specialists. We have a multidisciplinary team that encompasses cardiac surgery, TAVR, cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, and advanced imaging. Chronic total occlusion (CTO) experience is a plus but not mandatory.

Responsibilities:

The candidate will be responsible for managing patients with cardiovascular disease, performing interventional cardiology procedures, and participating in general call coverage for the group. The opportunity offers a high volume of procedures, including vascular and non-invasive cardiac imaging.

• Coronary angiograms and/or cardiac catheterization, including left heart and/or right heart catheterizations
• Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI)
• Atherectomy
• Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) and optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging
• IFR/FFR
• Pulmonary artery pressure monitoring device implantation
• Peripheral angiograms (including lower extremity arterial and venous angiograms, renal, or carotid angiograms)
• Emergency and rescue procedures in the hospital for patients coming in with myocardial infarctions and/or cardiogenic shock: Emergency cardiac catheterizations, pericardiocentesis, and/or insertion of mechanical heart pumps such as intra-aortic balloon pumps or other mechanical circulatory support devices
• Flexible scheduling comprised of a 1 in 6 call
• Ability to read echocardiograms, nuclear medicine, and non-invasive vascular studies

• Three (3) cardiac catheterization labs with state-of-the-art equipment to include a hybrid lab for structural procedures.
• One (1) new catheterization lab is to be built in the next 18 months, for a total of 4 catheterization laboratories.
• Steady STEMI volume with the opportunity to perform a broad range of procedures on patients from a large geographic catchment area.
• Experienced laboratory staff.

Minimum Requirements:

• MD, DO, or MBBS degree.
• Candidates must be BC/BE in interventional cardiology and general cardiology, as well as proficient in PCI. Competence in peripheral vascular procedures and structural heart capabilities are welcome.
• Current, unrestricted Virginia State license or eligible for Virginia licensure.
• Excellent clinical and interpersonal skills are required, as well as the desire to be part of a team that functions at the highest level.
• Experienced physicians are welcome to apply.
• This position cannot support J1 visas.
