Job summary

Compass Charter Schools seeks an Intervention Tutor based in California to support scholars through math and reading tutoring within a blended/virtual learning environment. You will orient new scholars and learning coaches, proctor assessments as needed, and provide data-driven, standards-aligned instruction.

The role emphasizes collaboration with academic staff, data review, and flexible support for multiple scholars in both one-on-one and small-group settings.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher from an accredited college/university.
• 2+ years of successful experience in private and/or non-profit sector experience, or related school operations.
• Experience with blended, online, personalized, and/or virtual learning schools preferred.
• Experience using assessment data to create & deliver standards-aligned lessons.

These are the essential requirements to serve in the Intervention Tutor role:

• Any combination of training/education, and experience equivalent to an associate's degree from an accredited college/university.
• 2 + Years of successful experience in comparable private and/or non-profit sector experience, or related school operations.
• Experience working with blended, online, personalized, and/or virtual learning schools preferred.
• Experience using assessment data to create and deliver standards-aligned lessons that follow a scope and sequence.
  

These are the desired skills to serve in the Intervention Tutor role:

• Proficient in productivity applications, specifically, Google Workspace (e.g., Docs, Sheets, Slides); digital engagement and communication applications (e.g., Zoom, Gmail, Direct Messaging), and learning applications (e.g., NearPod, Google Classroom).
• A collegial approach to teamwork and the ability to use performance data to guide collaborative conversations.
• Adept at supporting numerous scholars simultaneously.
• Ability to learn, apply and navigate new technology and systems for purposes including tutoring, communication, assessment, and data input and review.

Essential duties for the Intervention Tutor may include:

• Conduct mini-lessons in math and/or reading content areas, study skills, and other aspects of course preparation in alignment with standards and scholar data.
• Assists in orienting new scholars and learning coaches for the purpose of establishing familiarity with the program and technical setup to access supports.
• Assist in proctoring school-wide assessments as needed.
• Tutor scholars in various settings such as one-on-one and small group sessions.
• Maintain the tracking system which indicates scholar attendance/participation, progress, and areas of improvement.
• Compile data and reports for management.
• Remain in open communication with academic staff for guidance and support as needed.
• Participate in scholar collaboration meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position is based in an approved home office in the State of California. As the safety, adequacy, and functionality of the approved home office is key, approval must be provided to work from any other location with the exception of the Central Office. May be required to also work from the Central Office, Learning Center, or other Compass location as directed by supervisor or the Superintendent & CEO. Must be able to work a flexible schedule as needed to meet the needs of scholars, Learning Coaches (parents), and staff. Must be able to travel throughout the State of California for school-related activities. Note - you will be required to notify HR if any work will be performed in San Francisco or out of state for any period of time for review and pre-approval.
