Job summary

Garland Independent School District seeks a qualified School Counselor to support student success at the campus level. Requires a Master’s degree and Texas certification or equivalent licensure; three years of teaching experience preferred.

The counselor will plan small group interventions for at-risk students, assist teachers, coordinate and monitor programs, and compile reports while providing campus staff development and leadership.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a related field.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate-School Counselor OR LPC, as well as Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Master Social Worker- LMSW.
• Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience with demonstrated student success as measured by district standards.

Responsibilities

• Plan and provide small group intervention for students identified as at-risk.
• Assist teachers in working with at-risk students.
• Coordinate, implement, and monitor at-risk programs.
• Compile, maintain, and file reports and records of programs.
• Provide staff development on campus.
• Demonstrate leadership skills at the campus level.
• Serve as a resource for classroom teachers with strategies, plans, and materials.
