Job summary

South Columbus Preparatory Academy - German Village, part of ACCEL Schools, is hiring an Intervention Specialist in Columbus, Ohio. The role focuses on planning and supporting educational, behavioral, and social needs of students eligible for special education, across EK-8th grade in a high-performing charter network.

Responsibilities include diagnostic and functional assessments, IEP planning, and collaboration with teachers, families, and field trips.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards.
• Experience in full room inclusion or Co-Teaching in a Resource Room model.
• Growth-focused coaching with frequent observations, debriefs and progress monitoring.
• High-quality written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Word and Outlook (Microsoft Office).
• Excellent organization and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to pass FBI/BCI background checks.

Responsibilities

• Work with classroom teachers to interpret abilities and disabilities and modify curricula as needed.
• Conduct diagnostic assessments for instruction.
• Conduct functional behavior assessments.
• Write and implement behavior improvement plans.
• Facilitate IEP meetings and write IEP goals and objectives.
• Strive to meet goals related to student achievement and culture.
• Use research-based practices in daily planning and instruction.
• Incorporate culturally responsive teaching in daily lessons and interactions.
