Job summary

Kennedy Middle School in Michigan is seeking a dedicated Intervention Specialist to plan and implement goals, curricula, and targeted supports for at-risk students, working with teachers, administrators, and parents to ensure students receive needed academic assistance.

Under general supervision, you will administer assessments, deliver small-group interventions, document progress, and participate in professional development, safety protocols, and collaborating on data-driven action plans.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working with at-risk middle school students in an academic support or intervention setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
  • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and the formulation of action plans.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
  • Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

  • Responsible for maintaining materials and work areas in an orderly and organized manner conducive to work habits and study.
  • Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students.
  • Participate in in-service training programs as directed.
  • Use instructional technology to facilitate student learning and in the performance of duties.
  • Follow all applicable safety rules, procedures, and regulations governing the proper manner of assistance for all students.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the job goal for the benefit of students and school.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Travel Requirements

Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

Work Schedule

8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily (37.5 hours per week, including a half-hour unpaid lunch), as set forth in the LSFSS Unit Contract.

  • Individuals with an advanced degree receive additional compensation added to their base hourly rate (Associates Degree $1.00 per hour extra, BA $2.00, MA $3.00)
