Job summary

Sylvania's Silver Creek Elementary is seeking a Full-Time Intervention Specialist K-12 dedicated to helping students meet learning goals through engaging lessons and strong communication.

The ideal candidate holds a valid Ohio Intervention Specialist license, can apply diverse instructional strategies, and collaborates with district specialists to support students, including those with IEPs, ELL, and 504 plans.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid Ohio Intervention Specialist license or certificate for the teaching assignment.
  • Must meet highly qualified standards as defined by the State of Ohio.

Responsibilities

  • Guide the learning process toward the Ohio Learning Standards for the assigned subject and grade level.
  • Establish and communicate clear learning objectives for lessons, units, and courses.
  • Implement a variety of instructional strategies to address diverse learning styles and needs.
  • Assess student progress using formative and summative assessments and use data to drive instruction.
  • Modify instruction to maximize achievement for all students, including those with IEPs, WEPs, ELL, and 504 Plans.
  • Collaborate with district specialists to meet student needs (special education staff, counselors, social worker, psychologists, etc.).
  • Create a classroom climate conducive to learning and student engagement.
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and responsive classroom environment.
  • Set and enforce reasonable classroom rules and maintain order in a fair, restorative manner.
  • Maintain accurate, timely confidential records as required by law and district policy.

Job description

Summary: We are seeking a Full-Time Intervention Specialist K-12 for Silver Creek Elementary. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping students achieve goals, be able to create engaging lesson plans, and have excellent communication skills.

Education and Experience
  • Valid Ohio Intervention Specialist license or certificate for the teaching assignment.
  • Meets highly qualified standards as defined by the State of Ohio
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Demonstrates reliability, timeliness and good attendance.
  • Possesses knowledge of Ohio’s Learning Standards and instructional best practices.
  • Ability to integrate technology effectively intro instruction and assessment.
  • Demonstrates and supports Washington Local School District’s Portrait of a Panther
    Competencies: Empathy, Communication, Adaptability, Critical Thinking, Integrity and Learner’s Mindset.
Essential Functions
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of the Ohio Learning Standards established for the subject and grade level assigned to the educator.
  • Establish and communicate clear learning objectives for lessons, units, and courses ensuring alignment with state and local goals.
  • Implement a variety of instructional strategies to address the individual learning styles, needs, interests and abilities of all students.
  • Assess student progress through a variety formative and summative assessments. Use assessment data to determine progress of students toward achieving learning goals.
  • Modify and adjust instruction as needed to maximize achievement for all students, including those with individual Education Programs (IEP’s). WEP’s, ELL, and 504 Plans.
  • Seek the assistance of and collaborate with district specialists, such as special education staff, counselors, the social worker, psychologists, and others, to meet the needs of students.
  • Create a classroom climate that is conducive to learning and encourages student engagement.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment that embodies trust, mutual respect and community responsiveness.
  • Develop reasonable rules for classroom behavior. Maintain order in a fair and restorative manner.
  • Maintain accurate, timely and confidential records as required by state and federal law, district policy and administrative request.
