Job summary

Buckeye Elementary School District is hiring a Paraprofessional B - Intervention/Resource to assist students with educational needs and implement IEPs under supervision of teachers.

Preferred candidates hold a high school diploma and may have certifications in crisis intervention, CPR and first aid. Spanish fluency and experience with diverse learners are advantageous. This is a fulltime, on-site position with a 10-month schedule and ASRS retirement participation.

Qualifications

• Must obtain and maintain AZ DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• High School diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Obtain and maintain certification in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, CPR, and First Aid (preferred).
• Experience working with school-aged children (preferred).
• Experience with children with various learning and physical disabilities (preferred).
• Special training in adaptive equipment (may be required upon hire).
• Ability to speak fluent Spanish (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Paraprofessionals may provide services in regular classrooms, ESL, special needs, side-by-side or other settings.
• Supervise playground, lunchroom, lavatory, bus area and transport of District students as required.
• Assist instructional supervisor with group and individual student work and language acquisition.
• Assist in maintaining classroom control and order.
• Assist teacher with preparation of instructional materials.
• Prepare and maintain the classroom for student use.
• Assist in closing the classroom when school is not in session.
• Perform duties to meet personal care and non-medical health needs of students with special needs.
• Assist with field trips and extracurricular activities.
• Help students acquire fluency in English.
• Provide activities to improve language, academic and social skills.
• Monitor student activities at duty stations and ensure safety and care.
• Consult with teachers about student progress and needs.
• Submit incident/disciplinary reports as needed.
• Move around to observe activity and maintain safety across duty stations.
• Maintain legible records of students’ work under teacher direction.
• Assist in safety programs, drills and evacuations as required.
• Report medical and safety issues observed to supervisor or health center.
• Attend classes and trainings to stay current with district needs.
• Demonstrate good public relations with students, staff and parents.
• Participate in Medicaid Reimbursement program and keep monthly logs.
• Maintain high ethical standards and confidentiality.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
