Job summary

The Mind and Microbiome Lab at UC Irvine is seeking a Junior, Assistant, or Associate Specialist to coordinate human intervention research. The role focuses on building and managing the infrastructure needed to launch and sustain a human microbiome intervention study.

Under the guidance of Principal Investigator Desiree R. Delgadillo, the successful candidate will support study development, IRB and regulatory activities, recruitment and retention, staff training, and biological sample

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in psychology, public health, nutrition, biological sciences, health sciences, or related field, or equivalent research experience.
• Experience coordinating human subjects intervention research.
• Experience with IRB submissions and regulatory activities.
• Experience with participant recruitment, screening, scheduling, retention, and tracking.
• Proficiency with REDCap and Qualtrics.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to train research assistants and coordinate with students, staff, and external partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, implementation, and evaluation of behavioral and dietary intervention studies.
• Develop SOPs, training manuals, and QA procedures under PI direction.
• Prepare IRB submissions and regulatory documentation.
• Coordinate day-to-day study operations and ensure adherence to protocols.
• Develop systems for participant recruitment, screening, scheduling, retention, and tracking.
• Maintain study databases and data management workflows.
• Train and mentor research assistants in procedures and QA.
• Monitor implementation and troubleshoot challenges.
• Contribute to infrastructure and lab workflow improvements.
