The Legal Aid Society in Manhattan is seeking an Adolescent Intervention and Diversion attorney to represent clients aged 14-17 in criminal court, focusing on Raise the Age and related education, foster care and mental health advocacy.

You will work with an interdisciplinary team, including staff attorneys, mitigation specialists and investigators, and collaborate with Juvenile Rights Practice to safeguard clients' rights across school and juvenile systems.

Qualificações

• New York State Bar admission.
• Full Felony certification required.
• Experience in mitigation and sentencing advocacy.
• Interest in working with young people, families and collateral organizations and systems.
• Interest in working in an interdisciplinary team model.
• Interest in area specific training.

Responsabilidades

• Represent clients aged 14-17 years in Supreme Court.
• Handle adolescent offender arraignments and litigate to move felony cases to family court or litigate in Youth Part and elsewhere.
• Engage in collateral systems work including school advocacy, foster care, youth shelters, mental health services and detention visits.
• Collaborate with Juvenile Rights Practice lawyers and social workers and CDP practitioners.
• Other duties as assigned
