Job summary

Greater St. Louis Area Council offers a paid/part-time internship in Decatur, IL for Fall 2026. The program provides mentorship, hands-on experience, and exposure to fundraising, marketing, and program development within Scouting America.

Qualifications

  • Prior nonprofit experience or coursework in fundraising, management, or marketing is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a professional Scouter for ~20 hours per week.
  • Document learning journey with weekly logs.
  • Participate in mid-term and final mentor evaluations.
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and activities to explore career paths in Scouting.
  • Complete assigned projects and tasks.

Your Mission, Should You Choose to Accept It:
  • Gain firsthand knowledge of the non‑profit sector and the impact of our programs.
  • Hone your communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
  • Assist with program development, fundraising initiatives, marketing campaigns, and more.
  • Receive personalized mentorship and guidance from experienced professionals.
  • Fulfill your high school, college, or university internship requirements (12-16 weeks).
What You'll Be Doing:
  • Collaborating with a professional Scouter for approximately 20 hours per week.
  • Documenting your learning journey through weekly activity logs.
  • Participating in mid‑term and final evaluations with your mentor.
  • Attending meetings, training, and activities to explore diverse career paths within Scouting.
  • Completing assigned projects and tasks.
  • Becoming a member of Scouting America and upholding the Scout Oath and Law.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma, college students, recent graduates, or currently enrolled high school junior or senior.
  • A genuine interest in the non‑profit sector and/ or Scouting America.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Prior non‑profit experience or coursework in fundraising, management, or marketing (a plus!).
  • Strong organizational, self‑motivation, and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A commitment to the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
  • Reliable transportation is required.
  • Schedule and hours are negotiable.
