Job summary

Menards in Eau Claire, WI, is seeking a part-time Information Security Intern to assist in day-to-day administration and enhancement of information security programs. You will work with the Information Security team to support risk assessments and respond to security alerts.

The role requires current enrollment in a computer science or MIS program, strong communication and analytical skills, and the ability to work within normal office hours. Familiarity with Python or APIs is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must be actively enrolled at a college/university for an Associate or Bachelor degree in Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Good analytical skills for root-cause determination and resolution.

Responsibilities

• Review and respond to e-mail, firewall, anti-virus / anti-malware security notifications and reports
• Design new security dashboards and reports under the guidance of the Information Security team
• Assist security analysts with risk assessments
• Assist security analysts in researching enterprise security solutions
• Document instructions for routine information security tasks that can be carried out by other members of the team
• Maintain a basic working knowledge of Menards’ corporate network and application inventory
• Work with 3rd party support providers as required

• Review and respond to e-mail, firewall, anti-virus / anti-malware security notifications and reports
• Design new security dashboards and reports under the guidance of the Information Security team
• Assist security analysts with risk assessments
• Assist security analysts in researching enterprise security solutions
• Document instructions for routine information security tasks that can be carried out by other members of the team
• Maintain a basic working knowledge of Menards’ corporate network and application inventory
• Work with 3rd party support providers as required

Preferred Qualifications

• Some exposure to creating and maintaining Information Security policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines
• A basic understanding of network-level security and firewall concepts
• Some experience with Python and APIs to automate processes
• Some exposure to software development security
• Some exposure to security information and event management (SIEM) tools
