Internship - Embedded Controls Manfacturing Engineering Intern
Please note: this position requires on site part time work in Germantown, WI during the school semester and offers full time in the summer. This is NOT a winter break or summer only internship.
Allient Milwaukee builds TCI branded product and is a dynamic, growing Milwaukee area manufacturer of industry leading products for AC and DC drives.
The person selected will aid in the creation and documentation of manufacturing procedures and equipment controls for Allient Milwaukee's flagship active and passive harmonic filter product lines. This individual will work hands-on in Programable Logic Controller and embedded C firmware development environments to assist in the design, implementation, troubleshooting, and testing of the company’s automated test fixtures, internal utility applications, and test databases. This position will directly support the manufacturing floor and work directly on text fixture hardware. This opportunity will allow the person selected to gain valuable professional experience within an industry-leading company and contribute to Allient Milwaukee's business success.
Industrial controls knowledge in PLC based automated test systems using structured text or ladder logic programming or C programming for embedded processors
Basic programming skills in a higher level language like C# for desktop development for internal utilities and basic SQL query language.
Desire to work on the factory floor with manufacturing associates solving problems, providing controls efficiency and usability updates, and improving assembly documentation.
The ability and willingness to take independent action and complete job tasks. Also, the willingness to seek out additional assignments. The desire to take full ownership of all assigned tasks and complete them in an efficient, timely manner.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Basic electrical circuit knowledge, power electronics designs, power magnetics and filter design. Experience with LS Electric PLCs. Experience with DSPs and microcontrollers.
Experience of industrial field buses such as IOLink, Modbus TCP and RTU, ODVA Ethernet/IP.
Knowledge of 3D modeling and CAD tools.
Knowledge of assembly level hand tools for controls hardware builds and wiring, hands on experience assembling products. Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning tool use for item creation, bill of material creation, and engineering change documentation.
Experience with version control systems and software issue trackers.
Previous work in a manufacturing environment. Current accredited college or university enrollment making progress towards an undergraduate degree in Manufacturing Engineering with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
