Allient Milwaukee builds TCI branded product and is a dynamic, growing Milwaukee area manufacturer of industry leading products for AC and DC drives. Please note: this position requires on site part time work in Germantown, WI during the school semester and offers full time in the summer. This is NOT a winter break or summer only internship.
This position is for an engineering intern to aid in the application, testing, repair and support of TCI’s flagship active and passive harmonic filter product lines into industrial power systems. As an engineering intern you will work hands‑on in simulation, analysis, testing, troubleshooting, building and documentation of our magnetic and power electronic filtering products. This opportunity will allow you to gain valuable professional experience within an industry leading company.
Job responsibilities will be partially driven by qualifications and area of interest expressed by student, but typical tasks will include – analysis and troubleshooting field applications for active and/or passive filters, assessment of field power systems and sizing of filters to meet application needs, hardware development including schematic entry and PCB layout review, and high power laboratory experiments, for example, to prototype/test new product platforms including passive filters, reactors and active filters.
Exposure to roles and responsibilities in design engineering, product engineering and manufacturing depending on qualifications of candidate.
The job will require the ability to work safely in a high voltage power lab under the guidance of qualified lab personnel. The engineering intern will be expected to learn how to safely operate power lab equipment, including motor dynes, to test software and hardware changes. Additionally, the job may require construction of prototype circuits and test fixtures as needed by the engineering team.
Students will be exposed to all or some of the following tools and technologies: PSIM, MathCAD, MATLAB, Altium, project documentation WIKIs, Digital Signal Processors, Microcontrollers, analog circuits, power converter hardware, and industrial induction motor drives.
TCI pays interns a competitive internship wage. Junior standing $24/hr and Senior Standing $26/hr.
