Job summary

The Perryman Company is seeking an enthusiastic Electrical Engineering intern for Summer 2027 to support assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and modification of electrical equipment and systems. The position involves maintaining existing equipment and helping develop new equipment and processes.

Key duties include assembling, testing, diagnosing, and documenting electrical components, and collaborating with the engineering team to identify improvements.

Qualifications

• Actively working towards bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Automation and Controls Engineering, or any related field.
• Ability to work under supervision in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects.
• AutoCAD knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, test, and troubleshoot motors, motor controls, switch panels, PLC’s, HMI’s, hydraulic and pneumatic controls and other electronic controls and systems.
• Modify electrical systems to correct functional deviations.
• Diagnose root causes of electrical failures.
• Develop wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and engineering specifications.
• Perform periodic systems testing.
• Identify potential areas of process improvement.

Key Accountabilities

• Assemble, test, and troubleshoot motors, motor controls, switch panels, PLC’s, HMI’s, hydraulic and pneumatic controls. Along with other various electronic controls and systems.
• Modify electrical systems to correct functional deviations.
• Diagnose root cause of electrical failures.
• Develop wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and engineering specifications.
• Perform periodic systems testing.
• Identify potential areas of process improvement.
• Collaborate with engineering team in reviewing data to identify and assess equipment needs and/or efficiencies.

Requirements

• Actively working towards bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Automation and Controls Engineering, or any other related engineering field.
• Ability to work under supervision in a fast-paced environment.
