Mitsubishi Electric Research Labs (MERL) offers an internship focused on audio data collection, acoustic measurement, and immersive audio systems. You will collaborate with MERL researchers to design experiments, record room impulse responses, configure multichannel recording/playback systems, and develop data acquisition tools.

Ideal candidates are undergrad or grad students with hands-on audio experience. Flexible 3–6 month, full-time or part-time, with relocation stipend and travel coverage.

We are seeking an intern interested in audio data collection, acoustic measurement, and immersive audio systems. The intern will collaborate with MERL researchers to design and conduct acoustic measurement experiments, record room impulse responses, configure multichannel audio recording and playback systems, and develop tools for data acquisition and analysis. Projects may involve microphone and loudspeaker arrays, spatial audio recording and reproduction, Dante audio networking, and the development of automated measurement and data collection workflows. The collected datasets will support ongoing research in spatial audio processing, room acoustics, and machine learning.

The ideal candidate is an undergraduate or graduate student with experience in some of the following: audio signal processing, acoustic measurements, impulse response measurement techniques, microphone and loudspeaker arrays, multichannel audio systems, Dante audio networking, and immersive audio technologies. Hands-on experience with audio recording equipment and experimental setups is particularly desirable.

Flexible start dates, durations (typically 3-6 months), and full-time or part-time arrangements are available.

The pay range for this internship position will be 4-8K per month.

In addition to base pay, interns receive a relocation stipend, covered travel to and from MERL, and a monthly Charlie Card for local commuting. Interns are invited to participate in weekly social gatherings and professional development opportunities, including research talks by both internal and external speakers. Interns who meet the 90-day waiting period are also eligible for health insurance coverage. MERL provides immigration support for qualified candidates as needed. Employment is considered "at-will", and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary or any other compensation program at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, departmental or Company performance, and market conditions.
