Job summary

Howmet Aerospace is seeking Process Engineer Interns for 10–14 weeks at our Whitehall, MI campus. Interns will assist in improving quality and delivery through process control and take part in plant tours, seminars, and value-driven projects. The program culminates with interns presenting projects to management.

Candidates must be pursuing an engineering degree, be eligible to work in the US, and meet sophomore-level coursework by May 2027. Relocation and visa sponsorship are not provided.

Responsibilities

Our Process Engineer Interns will be located in various plants across our campus in Whitehall, MI. We are seeking highly motivated and energetic students to join our team. These positions will assist engineering and manufacturing in driving improvements in quality and delivery performance through process control and improvement initiatives.

Process Engineer Interns have a heavier focus in process management activities, metallurgy, etc.

The 2027 Summer Internship Program consists of 10-14 weeks of structured hands‑on training involving plant tours, lunch & learn seminars, fun networking events to connect with fellow interns, and projects selected to add direct value to the business. At the conclusion of the program, each intern will present their projects to plant managers, supervisors, and mentors. An internship at Howmet Aerospace will provide an invaluable experience that you can utilize in any role, and it's Howmet's goal to evaluate our interns for potential entry‑level openings.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• Candidate must be pursuing a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum completion of Sophomore level coursework from an accredited institution (by May 2027).
• Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree in engineering in one of the following disciplines: Materials Science, Metallurgical, Ceramic, or Chemical
• Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent analytical skills
• Ability to work in a self‑directed or team environment
• Strong organizational skills
• Relevant internship/work/research experience a plus
