Seeking an experienced International Tax Manager to oversee global tax compliance, reporting, planning, and advisory activities across its domestic and international real estate investment portfolio. This position will play a key role in managing international tax matters related to foreign investments, cross-border transactions, transfer pricing, withholding taxes, and REIT compliance requirements.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in international taxation, partnership taxation, and real estate investment structures, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with accounting, legal, treasury, asset management, and external advisors.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage international tax compliance for foreign subsidiaries, partnerships, joint ventures, and investment structures.
- Oversee preparation and review of international tax filings.
- Lead analysis and reporting of GILTI, Subpart F income, FDII, BEAT, foreign tax credits, and Pillar Two considerations.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with REIT qualification requirements, including income and asset tests involving foreign investments.
- Partner with business leaders to evaluate the tax implications of acquisitions, dispositions, restructurings, and cross-border transactions.
- Support tax-efficient structuring of international investments, financings, and joint venture arrangements.
- Oversee global withholding tax obligations and coordinate treaty analysis to minimize tax exposure.
- Manage transfer pricing documentation and coordinate with external advisors on intercompany transactions.
- Support the quarterly and annual income tax provision process under ASC 740, including uncertain tax positions and international tax reserves.
- Research and interpret tax legislation, regulatory developments, and international tax reforms impacting the organization.
- Coordinate tax audits and respond to inquiries from domestic and foreign tax authorities.
- Develop and mentor tax professionals while improving tax processes, controls, and technology utilization.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Taxation, or Finance.
- CPA, MST, JD, or comparable advanced tax credential preferred.
- 6+ years of progressive tax experience, including significant international tax exposure.
- Public accounting experience within a Big 4 or national firm strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of:
- International tax compliance
- REIT taxation
- Partnership taxation
- ASC 740
- Cross-border structuring
- U.S. federal income tax regulations
- Experience reviewing complex tax returns and international informational filings.
Preferred
- Prior experience supporting publicly traded REITs, real estate funds, private equity real estate platforms, or large real estate operating companies.
- Exposure to foreign investment structures in Europe, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, or Canada.
- Experience with OneSource, CorpTax, CCH Axcess, GoSystem, or similar tax software.
- Strong understanding of global tax reform initiatives and Pillar Two regulations.
