Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Principal Associate for International Risk, Strategy & Technology Enablement in McLean, NY, or Richmond VA. The role focuses on designing and implementing metrics, reporting, and digital workflows to drive transparency and unity of effort across partner networks.

You will translate policy and risk appetites into actionable requirements, lead strategic areas, and establish rules of the road to ensure compliant, scalable operations.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal presentation and written communication skills to interact and influence at all levels of the organization (e.g., technology/cyber organizations, enterprise business stakeholders, and executive leadership)
• Ability to manage multiple cross-functional projects while maintaining superior results
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical and critical thinking skills to effectively respond to shifting priorities, demands and timelines
• CISSP, CRISC, CISM, PMP, CRCM, CIPP, ABA Risk Mgmt Certification are preferred

Responsibilities

• Drive the development and execution of the International Risk Strategy by leading critical strategic areas (e.g., Technical Architecture, Data, Governance)
• Act as a translator of policy, regulations, and risk appetites into clear, actionable requirements for key partners (e.g., Tech, Cyber)
• Serve as a Pathfinder for international operational enablement, identifying cross-cutting dependencies and clearing obstacles to enable business to scale securely
• Establish and maintain the rules of the road for key domains (connectivity/access patterns, international data taxonomies, hardware/software lifecycle management)
• Synthesize complex information into executive reporting, owning the narrative for senior leadership
• Design and monitor performance metrics to identify actionable insights and ensure portfolio is well-managed
• Partner with ES Risk leads to implement workflow automation and build digital structures (e.g., Jira/Confluence, GenAI) to drive transparency and alignment
